Original melody: Divinum Mysterium - 13th Century or Earlier Plainsong
This carol was originally a long poem in Latin, and it was later pruned to 9 verses and set to a Plainsong Melody. We first heard/sung this hymn in English, but we love Latin, so that's the text we used of 4 favorite verses.

Ante mundi exordium
A et O cognominatus,
ipse fons et clausula
Omnium quæ sunt, fuerunt,
quæque post futura sunt.

Ipse iussit et creata,

Of the Father’s love begotten,
Ere the worlds began to be,
He is Alpha and Omega,
He the source, the ending He,
Of the things that are, that have been,

At His Word the worlds were framèd;
He commanded; it was done:
Heaven and earth and depths of ocean
In their threefold order one;
