Good people all, this Christmastime, Consider well and bear in mind What our good God for us has done In sending his beloved Son. With Mary holy we should pray To God with love this Christmas Day; In Bethlehem upon that morn There was a blessed Messiah born. The night before that happy tide The noble Virgin and her guide Were long time seeking up and down To find a lodging in the town. But mark how all things came to pass: From ev’ry door repelled, alas! As long foretold, their refuge all Was but an humble ox’s stall. There were three Wise Men from afar Directed by a glorious star, And on they wandered night and day Until they came where Jesus lay. And when they came unto that place Where our beloved Messiah was They humbly cast them at his feet With gifts of gold and incense sweet. Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep; To whom God’s angel did appear Which put the shepherds in great fear. ‘Prepare and go,’ the angel said, ‘To Bethlehem, be not afraid; For there you’ll find, this happy morn, A princely babe, sweet Jesus born.’ With thankful heart and joyful mind, The shepherds went the babe to find, And as God’s angel had foretold, They did our Savior Christ behold. Within a manger he was laid, And by his side the Virgin maid, Attending on the Lord of life, Who came on Earth to end all strife.

Alma Redemptóris Mater, quæ pérvia cæli Porta manes, et stella maris, succúrre cadénti, Súrgere qui curat pópulo: tu quæ genuísti, Natúra miránte, tuum sanctum Genitórem Virgo prius ac postérius, Gabriélis ab ore Sumens illud Ave, peccatórum miserére. Translation (from the American Liturgy of the Hours): Loving mother of the Redeemer, Gate of heaven, star of the sea, Assist your people who have fallen yet strive to rise again. To the wonderment of Nature, you bore your Creator Yet remained a virgin after, as before. You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting, Have pity on us poor sinners.
3.
From Heaven high to you I come To bear good news to every home; Glad tidings of great joy I bring Whereof I now will say and sing: To you this night is born a child Of Mary, chosen mother mild; This little child, of lowly birth, Shall be the joy of all your Earth. These are the tokens ye shall mark, The swaddling clothes and manger dark; There shall ye find the young child laid, By whom the Heavens and Earth were made. Now let us all with gladsome cheer Follow the shepherds, and draw near To see this wondrous gift of God Who hath His only Son bestowed. Praise be to God in highest Heaven, Who unto us His Son hath given! While angels sing with joyous verse A glad New Year to all the Earth!

++++++++++++++++++++++ Translation (J.M. Neale 1851 / Henry W. Baker 1861): Of the Father’s love begotten, Ere the worlds began to be, He is Alpha and Omega, He the source, the ending He, Of the things that are, that have been, And that future years shall see, Evermore and evermore! At His Word the worlds were framèd; He commanded; it was done: Heaven and earth and depths of ocean In their threefold order one; All that grows beneath the shining Of the moon and burning sun, Evermore and evermore! O that birth forever blessèd, When the virgin, full of grace, By the Holy Ghost conceiving, Bore the Saviour of our race; And the Babe, the world’s Redeemer, First revealed His sacred face, evermore and evermore! O ye heights of heaven adore Him; Angel hosts, His praises sing; Powers, dominions, bow before Him, and extol our God and King! Let no tongue on earth be silent, Every voice in concert sing, Evermore and evermore!

Noel 04:58
The first Noel an angel sung The carol of an angel’s tongue While shepherds watching o’er the night Heard both the song and saw the light Heard both the song and saw the light. The first Noel the Angel did say Was to certain poor Shepherds in fields as they lay. In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, In a cold Winter’s night that was so deep. Chorus: Noel, noel, noel, noel. Born is the King of Israel. They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East, beyond them far, And to the Earth it gave great light, And so it continued, both day and night. (Chorus) And by the light of that same Star Three Wise Men came from country far, To seek for a King was their intent, And to follow the Star wherever it went. (Chorus) This Star drew nigh to the North West; O'er Bethlehem it took its rest. And there it did both stop and stay, Right over the place where Jesus lay. (Chorus) Then enter'd in those Wise Men three, Full reverently upon their knee, And offer'd there, in his presence, Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense. (Chorus) Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our Heavenly Lord; That hath made heaven and earth of nought, And with his blood mankind hath bought. Noel, noel, noel, noel. Born is the King of Israel. Born is the King, the King of Israel.

(Chorus) And in that bed there lieth a knight, His wound is bleeding day and night. (Chorus) By that bedside there kneeleth a may, And she weepeth both night and day. (Chorus) And by that bedside there standeth a stone, “Corpus Christi” written thereon. Lully, lulley, lully, lulley, The falcon hath borne my make away. (Let all mortal flesh keep silence.) ***note: make = mate ; may=maid

about

Welcome to our Advent 2018 EP! This is our SIXTH Advent EP, which means we’ve created 24 arrangements of Advent/Christmas carols…plus, this little album has 2 extra tracks!
It seemed right to add a song for Christmas Day (which is our 5th track, Noel).
We also included our rendition of Falcon Carol, because we like that carol and wanted to include it, even though it isn’t a carol for the Holiday season at all, technically (it’s our 6th track).

The first 4 tracks are for the Four Sundays of Advent, as always – the Wexford Carol for Hope, Alma Redemptoris Mater for Peace, From Heaven High for Joy, and Corde Natus Ex Parentis for Love.

This is quite possibly our final Advent EP, at least in the way we’ve been doing them these six years, so most of these carols are old, dear favorites, and we worked really hard to make this little album beautiful. We really hope you enjoy these arrangements!

Also, because we now have enough tracks to share a different song every day from December 1st through the 25th, we have an ongoing playlist on our YouTube channel where we add a new song/video every day- the playlist is called “Advent Past and Present Playlist”.
This is the link to the playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvLKZbBBa5Hh6lHvfrPtVaV17VatkIfT9

We’re also sharing these videos daily on our DeguMoth Studios Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/degumothstudios/ ), so if you want to follow along on either site, you are very welcome!

Thank you SO much for listening and any support you give!
As always, whoever you are and whatever your beliefs, thoughts, philosophies, etc., we wish you Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and a warm glowing light in the darkness, this season and every season. :)
Have a joyous and blessed Holiday Season, and a Happy and Fruitful New Year!
